« Coordinated regional development action »
The ACCORD Project
A project with a mandate to create a productive regional system (competitive both at the North American and international levels) in Québec regions, by identifying and developing niches of excellence that can become brands.
The ACCORD project has 5 specific objectives:
The ACCORD project is a national cooperation initiative between three main partners: the Québec regions, the Government of Québec and the Société générale de financement. Other partners could join the project, depending on specific regional characteristics.
An innovative idea
The ACCORD project helps bring together business people and entrepreneurs from the same region who have a common view of their business sector, its potential, and its strengths and weaknesses and who espouse a long-term strategy for it.
In Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, aluminium transformation is the LEADING niche of excellence where the region is a front-runner on both the North American and global stages.
Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean is of such strategic importance in the production and transformation of aluminium, that it is known as Aluminium Valley®.
