Sefar BDH, technological innovation partner

An analysis of the data gathered at the end of November 2006 by the organisers of the first Canadian Symposium on Industrial Filtration gave Sefar BDH management the impetus they needed to take up the challenge, once again in 2009; this time joining hands with other organisations in an effort to create a snowball effect which would be a first not only in the region, but across Quebec, Canada, and throughout the world.

The 2009 Aluminium Valley in Business Trade Show seemed the perfect platform for Sefar leaders. For several months now, event organisers have been steadily working towards their goal of attracting more than 500 participants to the event, to be held January 20th-23rd, 2009.

Sefar BDH is a private Swiss company which set roots in Chicoutimi, Quebec 15 years ago. Specialising in industrial dust control, the firm stands out with a research résumé that includes Canadian patents such as the X600 high-temperature filtration cassette.

Dr. Luc Parent is an undisputed expert in the field – not only has he developed new products for the company, he has also provided medium to large businesses around the world with priceless advice on issues of concern.

Next January, he will provide scientific leadership to the symposium on process dust control. An entire day will be dedicated to the field, to the benefit of participants from Quebec, Canada and around the world. Six renowned international speakers will be on hand for discussion. The invited speakers will be profiled once the event agenda has been finalised.

Sefar BDH North America CEO, Mr. Yves Tremblay, will coordinate the business partnerships alongside the main organisers, different governments, and large businesses associated with the event. In this vein, Sefar BDH becomes a key financial partner.

Ms. Jacynthe Côté, President of Rio Tinto Alcan Primary Metal, has accepted the nomination of Honorary Chair for this event.

For Sefar BDH, the scope of this cooperative effort is all-important. By first committing to work on a regional level with other organisations from various backgrounds, by actively participating in Trade Show organisation by appointing a company representative to the committee, and by organising a special field-specific programme featuring experts from Australia, Switzerland, France, the United States, and Canada. They have also decided to include an interesting challenge by inviting their competitors to take part in the symposium. This initiative is a powerful example of the reasoning behind of the 2009 Edition. Networking sessions will be scheduled, and participants will be able to stay for the entire duration of the event should they wish to do so; a small extra fee will be charged. This is in fact the best opportunity for organisations to find out about the complementary nature of their own and their counterparts’ services.

A win-win situation for the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region and all of Quebec.
